Ronald “Tracy” Evans is President and Chief Executive Officer of Tabula Rasa Partners, LLC a CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery (CO2 EOR) Company operating in the Permian Basin of Texas. Tracy held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer of Denbury Resources (NYSE: DNR) when he departed to gain experience in private oil and gas ventures. Denbury is the leading developer of CO2 EOR projects in the US focused on CO2 EOR recovery in the MS, LA, SE TX and the Rocky Mountain regions. Multiple large scale CO2 pipelines and sixteen (16) CO2 projects were either expanded or initiated during his tenure at Denbury. Earlier in his career he held management, technical and operating positions with Matador Petroleum and Enserch Exploration in various operating areas within the US. He is a professional engineer, with a BS in petroleum engineering from the University of Oklahoma and a MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas. Currently, he serves on the Board of Discovery Natural Resources, a private company owned by Devonshire Investors (Johnson Family- founder of Fidelity Investments) and on the Board of Inventys, a private company focused on CO2 capture technologies. He formally served on the Boards of Genesis Energy (NYSE: GEL) and Encore Energy Partners (NYSE: ENP) during his tenure with Denbury.
Russell graduated from Texas Christian University in 1980 with a BA in accounting and is a Texas Certified Public Accountant. From 1980 to 1987, he worked for Dresser Industries in a number of accounting positions. Russell left Dresser for an opportunity to work for Enron Corporation in late 1987. While at Enron, he held positions in accounting, managed financial systems and finished his last two years as Manager of Business Development for Enron Liquids Pipeline’s CO2 pipeline infrastructure. In late 1996, he joined Shell Oil Company as Manager of their CO2 marketing team. Russell led the effort to form Shell CO2 Company in 1998 and was named Vice President of Business Development of the joint venture between Shell and Kinder Morgan. Kinder Morgan acquired one hundred percent of Shell CO2 Company in 2000 where Russell continued as the Vice President of Business Development. As a key member of the management team, his focus was on growing Kinder Morgan CO2 asset base. During this time, the company’s production grew to the second largest oil producer in Texas through the acquisition and development of Enhanced Oil Recovery projects. Russell joined Blue Source as Executive Vice President in October of 2006. His role at Blue Source was to investigate opportunities to develop CO2 capture and pipeline infrastructure to create carbon offsets. In 2010, Russell and a few of the Blue Source partners formed the precursor to Tabula Rasa Partners and acquired the Seminole East Field. From 2010 through late 2013, the company went through the transition from mezzanine debt to private equity and acquired two other producing properties. Developing the acquired assets from 2013 through 2017, the Seminole East Field and Emma Unit were both successfully placed under CO2 injection where production has increased significantly.
Bob SutherlandSenior Vice President – Operations
Mr. Sutherland’s diverse 38 year background primarily as a reservoir engineer includes exploration thru tertiary recovery project design, unconventional resources, gas storage and new ventures. Prior to joining Tabula Rasa Partners, he was with Denbury Resources, Encore Acquisition Company, Champlin/Union Pacific Resources and Southern California Gas Company where he held numerous engineering management and technical lead positions. Tackling the most difficult technical problems and developing new projects has been his forte. Prior to joining Tabula Rasa Partners, as Director of Reservoir Technologies for Denbury Resources he created a group top technical engineers and geologists to design and optimize carbon dioxide floods. Managers of Simulation, Reserves, Chief Geologist and Chief Reservoir Engineer reported thru him. Mr. Sutherland is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a M.S. in Petroleum Engineering and a B.S. in Geological Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
